IRON MAN 2

I don't really know where to start. My head is all over the place. Okay. First, and most importantly, it was brilliant.

And yes, tut and nod your head because you knew I was going to say that but it even suprised me. There was a great blend of characters, from the familiar to the unfamiliar and all of whom added their own dynamic to the pace of the film. It was great to see the characters interact more, especially Tony, Pepper and Happy.

There were some serious laugh out loud moments (watch out for Natasha's 'boxing' session with Happy, Tony's omlette and Rhodey using the 'ex-wife' on Whiplash), there was plenty of action varying from the Monaco Grand Prix to all out, guns-blazing flight battle sequences. Along with these, there was a deeper, more emotional side to the movie, one that wasn't really there in the first film. With the new enemies and characters comes a new insight into the Stark legacy, which allows the audience to get more of a feel of what Tony's relationship with his father was like.

Don't worry, Don Cheadle makes an excellent Rhodey, who thoroughly convinces as Tony's weary but loyal best friend. Sam Rockwell is fabulous as Justin Hammer. Mickey Rourke is menacing as Whiplash and Scarlett Johansson is sexy and deadly as Natasha Romanoff.

For me, one of the many highlights of the film were the Tony/Pepper moments. They were sweet, funny, caring and sad and everything I wanted for my OTP.

It's like there hasn't been a two year gap between the two movies. RDJ is the same arrogant but loveable playboy that everyone knows and adores but this time round he delves into Tony's personal life in order to show the vulnerability of being Iron Man. The Birthday Party could have been a farcical, big-laugh-only scene, but watching it, I felt deeply saddened and sorry for Tony, whilst at the same time wondering whether I should be laughing or not. RDJ is tremendous and I think he's fantastic, but you already know that.

Go out and see it. It blew me away and I really agree that it's going to be the biggest film of the summer. But what do I know? I'm just a fangirl.
